As a member of CrossFit Apex since the summer of 2008 and a 55+ Master, I am here to says age does not matter when it comes to CrossFit. CrossFit has changed my life in many ways. It has given me the mental toughness to get through many of life’s challenges. The Apex community is like a second family to me.

My exposure to fitness training started early in elementary school as a competitive gymnast. I continued that training through my sophomore year of high school. I played softball my senior year.

In my adult life, I tried many different types of fitness programs, but never really saw any gains and I was going bored of the many gym’s fitness programs. I was introduced to CrossFit when my children (Amy and TJ) where in high school, and I fell in love with it. What was most appealing to me was the variety of training and how I was able to work at my own fitness level and yet continuously see measurable gains.

My CrossFit training also gave me the confidence to begin competing in triathlons. As of mid-2018, I have completed 13 different triathlons of varying lengths and also completed my first Half Iron Man distance in the summer of 2014.

My passion for CrossFit has continue to grow. My personal desire is to introduce CrossFit to the older community. What better way to help teach functional movement than through CrossFit! To that end, in 2017, I earned my Level One CrossFit Trainer Certificate. My official coaching career began at CrossFit Apex in the spring of 2018; I coach classes aimed at more mature members who are new to CrossFit.

Come and try some Functional Fitness and see how it can improve your emotional, mental and physical well-being. Looking forward to seeing you!!
